Happy New Year from our Kindergarten Class!
As we welcome the new year, we, the kindergarten class, would like to extend our warmest greetings to everyone. We hope that this year will be filled with love, happiness, and good health for each and every one of you.
Learning and Having Fun in Kindergarten
At our kindergarten, we learn new things every day. We love to read books, sing songs, and do crafts. Our teachers help us to learn new words and numbers. We also have fun playing with our friends during free play time.
One of our favorite parts of kindergarten is celebrating special occasions. We love to dress up in costumes for Halloween, make Valentine's Day cards, and have Easter egg hunts. New Year's is also a very special time for us.
Chinese New Year
Some of our friends celebrate Chinese New Year. They tell us that it is the most important holiday in China. It's like Christmas and New Year's Eve combined! During Chinese New Year, families come together to eat lots of delicious food, give red envelopes of money, and watch dragon and lion dances.
We love to learn about different cultures and celebrations in our kindergarten class. Our Chinese friends even taught us how to say "Happy New Year" in Mandarin: "Xin Nian Kuai Le!"
A New Year's Tradition
One of our favorite New Year's traditions is making resolutions. Our teachers help us to think of things we want to accomplish or improve on in the new year. Some of us want to learn how to read, while others want to be better at sharing with our friends.
We also love to make crafts to help us remember our resolutions. Last year, we made a paper chain with our goals written on it. Each time we accomplished one of our goals, we got to cut off a piece of the chain. It was so satisfying to see our chains get shorter and shorter!
A Happy and Healthy New Year
As we say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new, let's all make a resolution to be happy and healthy. We can do this by exercising and eating healthy foods. We can also be kind to others and help those in need. Let's make this year the best one yet!
